The strength and flexiblity of oriental medicine is a direct result of the oriental philosophical views and understandings, from which the medicine is drawn. Oriental medicine is a collective term for several types of medicine practiced in the Orient and the East, including traditional chinese medicine, traditional korean medicine, traditional japanese medicine, and traditional vietnamese medicine. The basic techniques within Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) are acupuncture, Chinese massage (Tuina), energy-work (Qi gong), and herbal medicine. These techniques have been used for thousands of years to help healing diseases of the mind, body and spirit. Today oriental medicine techniques are used to treat conditions from back pain, to insomnia, to cancer.
